Thanksgiving, Turkeys and Treats

Updated: Aug 17, 2020

Thanksgiving is a special time of the year where families gather together to share food, give thanks for all the wonderful things that have happened throughout the year and to spend quality time with family and friends. Also as students it’s great to get a quick break from classes/work and spend this time relaxing.

Turkey has become a staple in every thanksgiving, but how did this happen?

Thanksgiving wasn’t a national day until 1863 and became popular in the 1900s. The immigrants that came to the United States were taught about turkey and stuffing as a form to Americanize them. This became more popular as time went on and it still continues to be a main dish. Stuffing is one of my favorite parts of a turkey dish, here’s a recipe I’ve used and love!

  • 1 tsp. black pepper

  • 2 Tbsp. white wine vinegar

  • 1 Tbsp. poultry seasoning

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley finely chopped

  • 1 Tbsp. fresh rosemary finely chopped

  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth

  4. Serve and enjoy!
